Hip-Hop vs. Oprah (Chat show Queen speaks out….)
The media mogul that is Oprah Winfrey has been having a rough time of late by rappers in the Hip Hop world openly voicing their discontent, claiming that she doesn’t like rappers.
The comments stem from allegations made by Ludacris in GQ magazine that the chat show queen edited out much of his comments when he went on her chat show in October with other co-stars from Oscar winning Best Picture, Crash. His comments were immediately picked up by 50 cent (the Brooklyn, New York native who now lives in a plush mansion in Connecticut!!) and claimed that see doesn’t make an effort to appeal to Hip Hop fans. And now, hot on the release of his new album 'laugh now, cry later', raptor (rapper/actor) Ice Cube has now decided to jump on the band/rap wagon and add his 50 cent. In an interview with FHM, Ice cube revealed how he felt insulted when Oprah invited the cast of Barbershop to appear on her show several years ago without inviting him say “She's had damn rapists, child molesters and lying authors on her show. And if I'm not a rags-to-riches story for her, who is?” (not bitter then I take it)

The billionaire philanthropist has expressed her tendency to not promote artists who demean women, promote negative stereotypes and use the ‘n word’ in their music. In an interview on mtv.com said "I am a woman who has worked very hard for my status in the world and as a human being…I don't want to be marginalized by music or any form of art. ... I feel rap is a form of expression, as is jazz. I'm not opposed to rap. I'm opposed to being marginalized as a woman." Although she is opposed to some lyrics, she is a fan of Hip Hop artists such as Kanye West who has appeared on her show.
